Section outline

  • Our Magic Encounters are designed to give teachers insight into the student voice and, through this, a better understanding of what students understand in their own words. They support increased parental awareness and engagement with the HPL philosophy. Additionally, they provide a wider context in which students can strengthen their use and application of the #ACPs and #VAAs.

The intention is to have student competitions running throughout the year and involve a range of age categories. Through HPL Online and LinkedIn student learning will be showcased and celebrated across the HPL community. Outstanding student achievements will be awarded by the Supporting Partner leading the competition.

For each Magic Encounter, we suggest that teachers attend the welcome webinar sessions that outline the nature of each competition including expectations, criteria by which judgments will be made, and a timeframe.

    • 1. Leadership For Change - The Economist Educational Foundation

The Leadership for Change Prize Competition, in partnership with Rolex, is a project that teachers globally can run with 10-to-16-year-olds between September and November 2024. It consists of a curriculum of six 60-90 minute lessons which culminate in students creating and pitching a “Project for Change”. These projects, which should be about an innovation or change they want to make in their community, can be submitted to the Leadership for Change Prize 2024. Winners will receive an award, prize funding and mentorship to turn their projects into reality.  Click here for more information on the competition

The curriculum lessons have also been released, they are accessible here.
