Blending HPL language in an IB school HPL can be used alongside any curriculum although some curricula are better aligned to it than others. The IB curriculum is particularly well aligned because the IB learner profile already specifies a set of learner characteristics to be developed alongside the subject knowledge and skills. Using HPL and IB together significantly strengthens the IB Learner Profile by expanding it to include the full set of learner characteristics which research shows are needs to create high cognitive attainment and by providing progression routes within each that define individual performance from novice to expert. The HPL pedagogy also provides tangible ways in which the IB Learner Profile can come to life at the classroom level. It can underpin the IB Learner Profile. HPL already works with schools who use the IB either at the Diploma level or throughout the school and for this reason has already mapped the HPL competencies against the IB Learner Profile. Research Opportunity: The State of Learning Spaces You are invited to be part of an exciting piece of research being undertaken by education design consultancy Noble + Eaton with school leaders across the UK and beyond. The State of Learning Spaces aims to uncover how UK state, independent and international school leaders really feel about their learning environments. What are the current problems? The immediate priorities? The future possibilities? We will share the results widely, and hope that our findings will help shape learning environments for the better - ensuring they truly meet the needs of students. As an official partner of the research, we are inviting you to participate in the research by completing a brief online survey (it takes just 5 minutes). By taking part, you will be helping to inform the future of school learning spaces. Noble + Eaton will also be sharing an early-release version of the findings (prior to public release) with all survey respondents. Please follow the link below to complete the survey. |
