Improving Classroom Practice through the HPL Lens

In five Workshops, teachers will learn how to integrate HPL into their classroom practice, plugging the gap between pedagogy and teaching and learning. The programme, led by the Albany Learning Trust, focusses on practical examples of how to effectively use HPL in the classroom. As part of each session, delegates will:

  • Learn how to integrate HPL into their lessons effectively
  • Create their own personal development plan for improving their own practice
  • Practice implementing HPL into their lessons, building their expertise
  • Have opportunities to share their best practice
  • Develop their wider professional network of colleagues from the HPL community
Workshop 1, taking place on 12th March 2024 from 9.00am to 11.00am UK time, will focus on how teachers can promote good progress and outcomes by pupils. Participants will engage with a range of strategies such as how to check for understanding, use scaffolding and sequence in small steps within an HPL classroom.

To sign up for this workshop, or to hear more about the full programme, please contact getintouch@highperformancelearning.co.uk. The programme is available to attend as individual sessions at £119 + VAT per session per delegate, or at a discounted rate for the whole course, at £500 + VAT per delegate.

Emails were sent to Headteachers and HPL Leads yesterday from Cassey Benito with the most recent response rate figures.

For any questions or advice on administering the survey, or for any technical queries, please contact Kerri Lyon, Chief Operating Officer at HPL, who will be happy to assist you.

This update's Big Question by Mark Tomlins, HPL Central

How can we use HPL to build our behaviour policy and practises?

This week’s Big Question is an opportunity to reflect on how the HPL philosophy and framework can inform whole school behaviour policies. As  HPL Lead, Mark Tomlins led the school drive team to achieving World Class School Accreditation. As a part of the adoption phase a strategic road map identified a need to improve the whole school behaviour policy. To address this need, the school drive team developed a behaviour policy which embedded the VAAs and empowered the children to view behaviour as being aspirational.

Have you used HPL to shape behaviour in your school? What strategies did you implement?

Well done to Wales International School for hosting "Every Friday Picnic with the Principal". Last week the principal asked the students to show their work and asked questions about the school; one being, is the school improving and what makes you think that? Students made reference to High Performance Learning and the impact it is having on their lives. We were ecstatic to read about their feedback.

💡 Thinking Education

Why more international schools keep opening - ISC Research (2023)

"The factors impacting the growth of international schools can change rapidly. In our shifting world, macro and micro environments play a part, and these can vary significantly from one country to another. Whilst the world’s international schools market has expanded consistently for the past forty years, the reasons why it does so from year to year and from country to country vary.

This white paper explores several factors impacting the growth of international schools today, taking a macro and micro view of some of the current influences." Read the full White Paper below.
